since most of the forum topics are either answered/dormant + I don't have anything much to say... y wud I post?

as much as possible, i want to make my post sensible and on-topic... smile.gif
lord_jagganath
... Real life beckons my friend.. ( i recall a similar situation in the past.. in between 1st and 2nd seasons.... that was when the wars first culminated... laugh.gif :0 )
gast!
Well, no offense but...
There isn't really much to discuss in this thread. It's quite useless.
Instead of creating new useless threads, think of something interesting and discussable so that you don't feel like it's getting "quiet" here.

Although, it isn't.

Well I wasn't trying to get on the bad side bout u buddy...

I actually defended u with my post right there but its ur life and ur time, so I wont bug you for doing what u really want happy.gif
HayashiAska
Actually, when u check all the old threads and FCs... The past was indeed very active...

But the topics mostly discussed were about SR and it's characters... And there were wars and games played together... Hardworking and Insane forum moderators to organize these events for us...

After School Rumble season 2 ended, the FCs slowly loses it's functionality... Members gathered to other general discussion topics... Moderators and certain members have to work in RL, and couldn't spare enough time for fun stuffs...

I love this forum... I've been here long enough... Joined many forum games and started a few of my own events too... I probably will never leave this forum, forever... It feels like a home to me...

If your really want or think that we need to start a fun event... I suggest we USE this thread to start the brainstorming...

there will be a new forum? ohmy.gif wow.

On Topic:
True, it's quiet here at the moment since SR's hype is at the low level right now, with all the new anime and season 3 not yet within sight. But that doesn't mean there's no activity going on at the forums. It's just that you probably came at a wrong time, something comparable to attending a festival early in the morning or late at night - when all the shops have yet to be opened or closed already. smile.gif I myself joined at a time when the most number or people online amounted to a mere 15, but we still manage to have fun because we tried to think of new stuff to discuss and things to do.

I think it's not just about joining the forum and proclaiming your love for SR, but also establishing yourself as one of the many people who tries to help the forum exist and make it better for everyone. laugh.gif

Off Topic:
I'm brewing up something along the lines of a forum activity which requires minimum maintenance on my part. It's a sort of a forum RPG based on SR. Full info in a week, given the lazy but busy person I am lol. I wonder if anyone's interested? smile.gif
Swampstorm
We've sort of tried something like that earlier, but I placed it on hiatus due to laziness on my part. The minimum maintainance part is usually the tricky part - it's difficult to both organize something and participate in it at the same time.

That being said, if you do give it a shot, you'll probably get support from a number of people, myself included.
HayashiAska
I will give some help wherever possible... As long as I get to join in the game as a "player" as well...
Foressense
If you're gonna do something again, don't drag me into it unless you're going to help with it all the way through. I was not pleased with the last event and how everyone abandoned me.

Concerning the new forums, it's still being worked on but no estimated completion date since SOz has a busy life schedule. I can't break him out of his hentai habits, I'm sorry! rolleyes.gif
AngelsThesis
well if u wanna break his habit, the FIRST thing to do is abduct eye-san laugh.gif
homeless_homo
Give me his address and give me a day or two. I'm sure I could get rid of his hentai addiction =]

A few loops of Marimite would do lol. laugh.gif

On topic:
Currently, the most active threads seem to be in the anime section, and a couple at the general discussion, particularly the manga thread and the SaiMoe2007 thread.
AngelsThesis
great now my eyes hurt laugh.gif

btw, r we gonna be changing urls (again) if we were to change forums?
novicez
wow... I was just gone 4 2 days...(i'm just finished my pre-board exams.....7,3hr exams.... wacko.gif ).. now it's noisy here... tongue.gif tongue.gif
Foressense
@kenji, homeless- NEVER spam like that again or I will ban your asses. Especially kenji, you made the page wider!

Now shut up and get back to enjoying the forums how they were meant to being used.

You weren't abandoned. As you were told earlier, we couldn't trigger the event until just before it was implemented.

You were supposed to defend the WF base for 25:00 until reinforcements arrived. Unfortunately, SOz never set the timer in motion, and you ran out of resources. Just reload when that timer bug gets fixed and try again. C'est la vie, n'est pas?

I'd like to have this thread open for brainstorming. I'll deal with spam on a case by case basis.
AngelsThesis
lol i kinda still wanna find Aneki-sama, or find clues from em, but im pretty much a dead-head when it comes to these stuff, but i really am lookin forward to it as well as other events that come up in the future.

Just want to have your opinion on this:

Since I'm starting something next week I was wondering what you guys would like...

1. The Moving Classroom - a forum RPG that takes place within class 2-C. A set of events are given each "School day" in which the players can choose to take part in. Kinda like Harvest Moon. happy.gif

2. Yagami Fantasy Forum RPG ver. - fantasy RPG with SR characters. Plays like a multiplayer choose-your-own-adventure book, except that a player has an influence over the outcome of his/her actions. Haven't pinned down the exact mechanics yet though. tongue.gif

3. Yagami Fantasy Fiction ver. - a fantasy-themed SR fan fiction.

Any input would be appreciated. happy.gif Flames will be refuted with trash talking. Thanks. smile.gif
AngelsThesis
hmm i dunno, RPGs tend to get too one sided unless it has been really well moded, there also seems to be a lot of offtopic talks rather than on topics,
well i base this one the ones we already have laugh.gif

1. If you really put effort into it and are willing to manage the thread every day, this could become something. Otherwise it'll die like several others I've seen on multiple forums, including this one.

2. I predict it'll be too chaotic to manage in a few days. Plus the disputes between players who try to interact to each his/her advantage and fail to reach a consensus over what happens to who afterwards, especially in case of character conflict. Even if you do find a solid system, it'll be a living hell to manage.

3. Tried that. Ran out of ideas after a few months. Mine was a one-man project though, because I was afraid others would mess the whole story up. Besides, starting a second one is not very creative (assuming the readers have some cultural forum knowledge and read a fanfic or two from the old times happy.gif )

Though with all due respect, I'd choose for Swampstorm's project, should he decide to come up with one, since his are usually better planned. So if an event is to be started, people ought to cooperate in order to organize it as well as possible to ensure the participants' ability to go insane and still maintain harmony in relation to each other. Guided chaos, as in starting an event from scratch and improvising your way through, tends to be a flashy downfall of the project unless everyone is wary of their own position in the game world as well as others'.

Extreme example :
QUOTE(Zakumon74 @ Sep 29 2007, 05:54 AM)
Suddenly, all characters decided to attack Zakumon-san, who quickly dodged all attacks and blasted his enemies with a magical explosion, leaving all characters unconscious, and took all of their belongings and infiltrated their minds to find out everything they knew and use that knowledge to become the supreme ruler of the world.

Here, hope you enjoyed it! Now it's your turn folks, submit your stories from this point tongue.gif

This never really happened in any games on this forum, but I've seen something almost as bad on another forum I was on for about two months. Of course, something like that requires us to have our own Zakumon74, who has absolutely no idea how to play a forum RPG, and for now we don't have anyone to fill in (luckily). What I am afraid of is that people might slowly start going down that path, that's where game rules jump in, and those require a lot of preliminary work.

RPG's in the past were organized by a few dedicated forum members, and everyone had plenty of fun. But that was back in the days when 4cat reigned this board with might, magic and vile sabotage. If we can get someone creative and drown him in power, the project could skyrocket straight through the roof. In theory... sleep.gif
AngelsThesis
ye i remembered when the rpg thread was guided well, hehe brings back memories of when i wasnt regent, i too participated for a while, then i went MIA on everyone laugh.gif

as for the RP ruining guy, i can name one already dry.gif
Swampstorm
Well, I don't actually have a project, right now. I liked the idea behind the last one, but it required that more people actively participate than they did. Besides, I've always preferred participating in events to managing them. It's more fun to discover a secret than it is to create one.

I'll watch to see what everwatcher comes up with. My advice, though, is that you take some time to look through past attempts at this sort of thing and consider it carefully. There's no rush.
everwatcher
thanks for the input guys. happy.gif so it is really harder than I thought it is.

if anyone can guide me to the old RPG threads it would be most helpful. smile.gif
Swampstorm
There are several in the TFC, most of which consist of spam.

The closest attempt that we've had to something serious was this (note the thread number tongue.gif ):
http://www.wannabefansubs.info/tenma/index...?showtopic=1337

Unfortunately, it's also an example of what happens when the organizer of an event tries to force a story on the players, rather than just letting events unfold naturally through the actions of the players. It's not without its merits, though.

It also features Foressense deliberately gouging out his character's eye, so it can make for an amusing read.

There's also the event that I started to organize but never really followed through on:
http://www.wannabefansubs.info/tenma/index...?showtopic=3053

I vaguely hint at what the event is about, but I've withheld most of the details so as to not give anything away. If you've got questions, you can always ask me off the record.
Hitotsu
It wasn't much of an RPG, but I did enjoy reading 4cat's endless nonsense in the over so many ways to kill Tenma thread very much. Nothing compares to a half past insane schizophrenic cat on a rampage. Spam or not, it was quite amusing.

I can also give my own fanfic as a reference (shameless self-promotion, to quote someone close to forgotten), but I'm still working on it, as in it's not finished yet.

I'd like to take everyone's attention to Wannabe Rumble for a while. Creating an own character is always fun, especially when you place it in the middle of the idolized characters of SR, but carrying on and interacting with any level of credibility is not in our members' genes. So giving participants absolute freedom is something I normally strongly oppose.

However, there's no game without interaction, so as I previously stated we need proper rules to guide this thing or we'll turn it into chaos and ruins.
